How much time do you spend commuting each year?
A 30-minute trip each way feels small, but over a full working year it adds up to around 200 hours — more than eight full days. Longer commutes can easily reach several weeks of your life every year.
This calculator turns your daily trip into yearly hours and full 24-hour days, and shows what share of your working time goes to travel.
How commute time per year is calculated
The formula is simple:
- One-way time × 2 gives your daily travel time.
- Multiply by the days you commute each week.
- Multiply by the weeks you work each year, then divide by 60 for hours.
Put your time in context
The time bar compares your paid working hours with your commuting hours. Add your pay and travel costs too, and you will see your effective hourly pay once that time is counted.
